Karin began designing gardens many moons ago, in fact when she was a child. In those days she worked everything in miniature and charged visitors 2 old pennies to walk round her tiny landscape, gathering money for charity.
A lot and not much has changed in the intervening years. Karin is still passionate about gardens, garden design, plants, layout schemes and sharing her love of all of this with you, but today her work is in full scale (and sadly costs more than 2 old pennies! ha ha!)
Her design belief is one of 'less is more', rather than anything being overworked. This is reflected in most of Karin’s work. Her attitude to design is that all should look settled, balanced and in flow, rather than looking like work has just been done. In her own words, "a good design should do exactly what a good haircut does - help you look great, not simply “made over”!
Garden design is of course a business of balance, managing the look in infancy while planning and visualising for its appearance in the future. Unlike a painted wall, plants can ebb and flow, growing quickly or lying dormant, and for this reason Karin is often willing to offer long term advice and an ongoing design service on certain types of projects.
Karin is a pre-registered member of The Society of Garden Designers, and her work ranges from simply providing outline plans and planting lists to undertaking full blown design and implementation. She is happy to travel to work with you on your design."
