Karin began designing interiors as an extension to her textile design work. For many years Karin was a fabric designer, working with large companies, selling her designs around the world. After the gloss of air travel had worn off, Karin began to style textiles and colour and pattern within the real settings of houses and so began her shift into interior design.
As with much of her work, Karin has never liked to over - design. She prefers to spend time with each client, getting to know them, their style, taste, how they might 'use' a room, how many treasured items are wanted in a new scheme before beginning to plan the final design. As with her garden design, Karin’s goal is for her rooms to look real, not newly or stiffly put together.
From her years as a textile designer, Karin is comfortable and confident colour scheming and working space and pattern to flow together. She understands scale and the impact that certain textures, colours, lighting and shapes can have on the mood in any given room. Also as an artist Karin has often been asked to paint trompe l’oeils and murals as part of her design work.
While most of her work recently has been for residential properties, she has worked on several commercial projects, mainly conference centres, hotels and pubs. She has worked extensively throughout the UK, in France and Mallorca, and she continues to be happy to travel to work with you on your project.
